Update On Adopt A Platoon

I recently received an email from SFC Williams giving me some updates on the Platoon. He said "that it is hard for most of them to focus now because it seems like this deployment is never going to end, but they are doing well." I asked when they would be coming home and he said he did not know for sure. They are hoping to come home early but if they have to stay the complete 15 months they are already passed the half way mark and on their way to completing the mission. He did have some great new about some of the men which I have enclosed.

S1 Updates:

  • PFC Wang was promoted to SPC last month and his wife is expecting a baby. Also SPC Wang's wife got her visa to come to the U.S.
  • PFC Calixte was promoted to SPC two months ago and is currently in Baghdad waiting to become a U.S Citizen. SPC Calixte will be going on leave this month for 18 days to his home country.
  • PFC Chavez will become a SPC next month. His baby is really big now.
  • SGT Figueroa is married and his wife has relocated to the Watertown area and will be moving there in the next couple of months. Last month SGT Figueroa also reenlisted to stay in the Army for another four years
  • SGT Manning is doing well.
  • SFC Williams goes on leave this month. His wife and son can't wait for him to get home. He will be returning to the Fort Drum area for my leave. SFC Williams also reenlisted two months ago for six years.

SFC Williams said they have not taken any more pictures because the mission they are on does not allow them to have cameras.

Be sure to check out the website www.proverbialwomen.com/AdoptAPlatoon to view pictures and more updates on the Platoon!

Remember to keep them in your prayers! We want all the men and women serving this great country to return home safely to their families and loved ones. God bless the men and women serving the USA and God bless America!

Fill Your Home With Fragrance!

I have been studying some more information on the effects of smell on an individuals overall well being and have found some really interesting facts. A great website to check out is www.senseofsmell.org As a candlemaker fragrance and the effects it has on people interest me a great deal. One of the facts I recently read about is how the smells of both chocolate and coffee can help you get through the day at the office when you are feeling a bit sluggish. Of course this made me really happy considering how I love both chocolate and coffee; but then who doesn't! Cinnamon also has been found to have a positive impact on memory, especially for individuals taking test. So take a deep breath and enjoy the fragrances around you, and of course light a candle!

As for the rest of the guys they are working hard and trying to keep there heads up. They don't have access to the computer right now but hopefully will soon.

Happy New Year "2008"

Happy New Year to you and your families. I pray the Lord will bless all His children in the months to come.

The new year always brings with it the chance for a fresh start and a way to begin anew. I got thinking about that and realized because of Jesus Christ all people can have a fresh start everyday of their lives. What a great feeling to wake up every morning and realize the new day has brought with it the opportunity to do something great. Our pastor at church challenged us all on Sunday to go the extra mile and set goals for our spiritual lives, kind of like a business plan for our walks with the Lord for 2008. What a great idea! Of course we don't have to start with a blank page we have the Bible God's living Word as a blueprint for our daily lives. Thank you Lord for giving us Your Word to guide us on our earthly journey.

God bless you all this year. Let's make everyday count, for the Lord gives us many opportunities to make a difference. Let's make Him proud as our heavenly Father should be of all His children.
